On a typical night a line haul driver will start with a pre-loaded trailer at their home terminal. Some of our line haul drivers do 1/2 turns on I-5 with another company driver. The drivers will drop and hook to swap trailers and then return to their home terminals. Occasionally, a driver will drop ship cargo to one of our key customers.
Some line haul drivers run shuttles between two or three of our stations. Depending on the mix of cargo, the driver will drop one trailer and pick up another trailer or they will be off loaded and reloaded by our local warehouse staff. Occasionally, a driver will use a forklift to move freight on or off their trailer before departing to their next stop.
We have a close knit group of line drivers who communicate and support each other at night.
