About the job
A Day in the Life: The Flatbed Craft
You aren’t just a driver; you’re a cargo specialist.
Your day starts with a rigorous pre-trip, checking winch tracks and Midwest weather. In the yard, you’re on the deck directing the load for a perfect center of gravity. Whether it's steel or machinery, you’re throwing 100lb tarps and tensioning Grade 70 chains until that load is an extension of the trailer.
The work doesn’t stop at the gate. Every 150 miles, you’re out of the cab with a winch bar, ensuring everything is "tight as a drum." As a 1099 pro, you manage your own clock and fuel, navigating Chicago traffic and Midwest lanes with the pride of a business owner. You master securement, protect the freight, and maximize your gross pay every single mile.
