How Fast Carriers Respond to Log Drivers (July 2026)
How long does a log driver wait after applying before a carrier responds, if anyone responds at all? Here's the July 2026 benchmark: response rate, median speed, and how much of the response happens in the first 24 hours. Right now 7% of 97 applications got a genuine carrier response, the median response took 16 hours, and 57% of responses landed within 24 hours.

Why the first response usually wins
Log hauling draws from tight regional labor markets where reputation and word of mouth carry weight. Applications are few, local, and time-sensitive; an unanswered one is often a driver who took a mill or woods job instead.

How this benchmark is computed
The benchmark counts real carrier behaviour: for each application in the last 12 months, we look for the first carrier-initiated action (call, note, document or profile request, ATS export) and measure the hours from application to that action. Automated and system-generated events don't count as responses. Slices under 30 applications are withheld. Read the full methodology. Updated July 2026.
