Why flatbed lanes run the way they do
Flatbed freight skews regional and OTR: steel, lumber, and building materials move plant-to-site on irregular lanes, so dedicated runs are scarcer than in van freight. Securement and tarping time also eats into weekly miles, which is why offered mileage often trails dry van at the same haul length.
